11 weeks of Grade 12 successfully completed! This was another 4-day week, thank the Gods.

Monday was Remembrance Day. In Sociology, we started talking about the concept of Alienation, i.e., straying away from the norms of society. We talked about the reasons and theories about it, and the concept of the Proletariat and Bourgeoise. We watched quite a few videos because our teacher wants us to develop our skills in making notes watching videos with a lot of content. In Biology, we continued learning about Photosynthesis and light-dependent reactions. We were halted for about 15 minutes for the Remembrance Day voice assembly. It was touching. In Chemistry, we began studying Hess’ Law. I don’t fully get it yet, but I’m trying. In Math, we had a test for Chapter 6.

Tuesday was a late start. In Biology, we studied the light-independent reactions, also known as the Calvin Cycle. Did you know it’s named after a guy named Melvin Calvin? XD. In Sociology, we continued with the concept of Alienation. Then, halfway through the class, we were given a group assignment. We had to relate the Zimbardo Prison Experiment to a concept of this unit and make an essay outline on it. In Math, we started a new chapter, Trigonometric Identities. In Chemistry, we took up our Organic Chemistry test and then took up some Hess’ Law questions.

Wednesday was a fun day. In Sociology, we studied Deviance. Our teacher made us watch some more videos to help with our note-taking skills. In Biology, we did a lab experiment to separate the pigments of spinach leaves onto chromatography paper. It was a fun lab because it was the first that didn’t require a lab report. At lunch, we had a SAC meeting to discuss our quickly approaching Semi-Formal. In Chemistry, we did a lab-based on Hess’ Law. I missed the first few minutes of the explanation, so the relevance of the lab to the Law is still a little unclear to me. I should ask my teacher about it. XD. In Math, we studied Compound Angles and Trigonometry.

On Thursday, we wrapped up Photosynthesis with a worksheet, in Biology. In Sociology, we continued with the theories of Deviance like the Labelling Theory, Social Control Theory and the Differential Association Theory. At lunch, I went to the Science Peer Tutoring room but, since no one showed up to be tutored, I left to go help with the Semi-Formal Ticket Sales. In Math, we learnt about double angle formulae. In Chemistry, we continued with more Hess’ Law questions. Halfway through the class, we were grouped to crack one question per group based on the chapter we’ve been studying. I was the first one to solve it in my group, so I had a lot of the period free. I got some work done.

Friday was a PA day.

This week was a blast in all my classes. I hope your week was just as good. To get in touch with me, you can email me at rueshi25@gmail.com. See you next week. – Aarushi
