This was a short week; only 4 school days. It was fun, nevertheless.

Monday was an exciting day. For the first time ever, we were allowed to use technology in our Sociology class. And by technology, I mean laptops. We still aren’t allowed to use our phones in class because our teacher wants to create an environment as similar to a university class as possible. Which is why she got us to make notes on laptops; to help us get better at taking notes and to see where we can improve so that we enter university/college with these soft skills. It was crazy how fast I was able to type accurately. Our lesson was about baby boomers and the cause of their existence. I was able to write every word our teacher said. That’s not how I usually take notes on paper.

In Biology, we started a lab activity, where we weighed identical potato slices and dropped them into 10 ml glucose solutions of varying molarities. It’s to see a real-life example of transport in cells. In chemistry, we studied cis-trans isomerism. It’s a simple topic but its real-life applications are very interesting. The difference between an unsaturated (and good for the body) fat and a trans-unsaturated (and bad for the body) fat is just the position of a hydrogen atom. We had a supply teacher in Math, so I did the review questions for the test on Wednesday, and a little review for the Biology test on the same day as well.

On Tuesday, we continued almost everything from the previous day. In Biology, we continued working with our potato slices. We weighed them after they were soaked overnight. The data will be used to make a lab report. In Sociology, we learned about the echo boom. I used my own laptop to make notes. I’ve been doing well, typing as fast as our teacher speaks. At lunch, the SAC handed out timbits to teachers for World Teacher Appreciation Day that was on Saturday, October 5, 2019. In Math, we reviewed for the test (it was a boring class). In Chemistry, we had a supply. We were given an assignment to make a quiz based on what we’ve learned in Organic Chemistry until now. There’s a question sheet with an answer key. I’ve made a good quiz. After school, some SAC members and the staff advisors went venue scouting for the Semi-Formal dance in December. I absolutely love the hall we have selected. I have some good ideas for how we could decorate it.

Wednesday was a chaotic and tiring day. My day started with a Sociology quiz about the theories of adolescence. Then, we moved on to learning about the Gender Revolution, which is by far my favourite topic in Sociology. In Biology, we had a unit test for chapters 1 & 2. During lunch, the SAC had a meeting to discuss Halloween related events. I can’t wait for them to happen. In Chemistry, we did a chart summarizing hydrocarbons and functional groups. We had a test in Math for chapter 3 &4. After school, my friend and I stayed back to finish a Chemistry assignment. I had no homework that day.

Thursday was a relaxing change of scene. Most of my classes were empty because of the university bus tour. My Biology class had 7 students, so we didn’t do much. My Sociology class had 12 students, so our teacher continued with the Gender Revolution. She completed the lesson with 25 minutes to spare, so we got to use our phones. At lunch, we had a UCC meeting, discussing important events of the year. I’m so excited about everything we have planned. We started a new chapter in Math. And we had a supply teacher in Chemistry, so I left school early.

Friday was a PA day, so combined with Thanksgiving Monday, I have a long weekend.
