The countdown to my last weekly recount as a senior has begun. This is the 7th from the last. Six recounts from now, I’ll be saying goodbye to 12 years of the best education I could have asked for. Fingers crossed for some awesome education while I’m at university!

In Calculus and Vectors, we continued with Chapter 7, Application of Vectors. On Monday, we did 7.3, Dot Product of Two Geometric Vectors. It’s a method of multiplying vectors when you need to find the angle between them or the length of one of them when the angle is given. vector a dotted with vector b= magnitude of vector a multiplied by vector b multiplied by the cosine of theta or the angle between them. In other words, Vector a . vector b = |a||b| cos theta. Imagine a and b with arrows on top; this website doesn’t recognize the arrows as characters so… On Tuesday, we did 7.4, which was finding the dot product of two algebraic vectors, or vectors with coordinates. The only major difference between 7.3 and 7.4 was that 7.4 dealt with vectors with a z-coordinate, or 3D vectors. On Wednesday, we did 7.5, Scalar and Vector Projections. I don’t know of its real-life applications so I can’t explain it as well as the rest of the chapter. The best I can do is say that a scalar projection of vector a on vector b would be a perpendicular line from the head of a to b. The length of the projection is from the point the line meets b to the point where a and b meet (origin). The magnitude is the dot product of a and b divided by the magnitudes of the vectors. I really wish I could explain it better in a blog, but this is the best I can. There are some helpful videos on YouTube, though, if you’re interested. On Thursday, we got time to do a mid-chapter review. On Friday, we got an assignment that required me to think a little more than the other assignments, but I was happy when I got the answers.

In Writer’s Craft, I submitted my Short Story ISU on Sunday evening and waited for my teacher’s feedback, which came on Friday. While she marked our stories, she uploaded two more assignments that I’m not even close to starting. We’ve started a Unit on Reviews, so the first assignment is to find four different types of reviews (a rave, a pan, a well-written and a poorly written review) and critique them. As if that wasn’t a lot, the reviews must be for anything Canadian. I guess I’m going to go look for reviews on Ryan Reynold’s acting and the taste of Tim Hortons’ poutine. The second assignment is to write a review of a family dinner. My parents and I have been cooking a lot of new dishes so this one should be interesting.

In English, we had a two-part assignment. The first part, due on Wednesday, was to identify what kind of conflict the question presented. For example, Hamlet finding out Claudius killed King Hamlet is a man vs. man conflict. The conflicting forces are Hamlet and Claudius. There were 6 such questions. The second part was to answer 6 questions about the first two scenes in Act 2 of Hamlet. I finished a minute before the deadline. Phew!

That was my thirtieth week as a senior in high school. As I write this, my thirty-first week also comes to an end. It's been such a wonderful journey. I'm cherishing the last few weeks of senior year as much as I can. I hope you are enjoying your weeks as well. Make sure you check out my Instagram page (@studywithaarushi)! Till next week. - Aarushi
